Day 4 we explored Rabida and Bartolome Islands. We went on a walking field
trip to see if we could find any Sharks, Blue Footed Boobies, and Flamingos. Rabida
and Bartolome Islands Rabida has a dark red beach were we
could see sea lions galore. A salt water lagoon located a small distance
from the beach is home to Flamingos. It is also possible to see the
island's volcanic peak from a short trail.
After lunch we visited Bartolome Island where we got a good view of Pinnacle Rock and walked on the lunar-like landscape. We kept a sharp eye out for the Galapagos Penguin, but they seem to keep out of sight during the midday. We went back again right before dinner for a panga ride around the rocks, again looking for penguins. We saw lots of them up steep rocky walls that jutted out from the sea. Unfortunately the water was rough and taking pictures under low light conditions was just about impossible. Patrick did get a few comparatively good shots. I cheated and included a few penguin pictures in my part of the group photos that are from Bartolome but were posted on the net. If you recognize a penguin, it wasn't my picture!
