On Day 3 we were up bright and early for our flight from Quito to Baltra Island.  I am happy to report that the plane was not a flying semi-truck and managed to get off the Quito runway with plenty of room to spare.  We arrived at Baltra and were bussed to the dock, to board the pongas to the yacht Tip Top II.  At the dock we were greeted by a less than enthusiastic welcoming committee of sea lions.  The boat took us to Daphne Islands just a short distance away.

Yup, we're here!

After lunch on board the Tip Top II, we went to Playa de las Bachas (Beach of the Barges).  We were interested in the pond behind the beach where Flamingos breed and play.  Of course, we did enjoy a bit of swimming and snorkeling on the beach after observing the Flamingos.

After a pleasant afternoon of observing and swimming, our pangas came to pick us up and deliver us back to the yacht for dinner and orientation to Day 4.  "Panga" is apparently an Ecuadorian word for any small boatMay have been derived from the indigenous word for a dugout canoe. We also had our first real encounters with a beast called a Marine Toilet--please don't ask--and definitely NO photos!
