Today we have a hike to Mule Ears Spring in the morning. It is about four miles round trip over pretty rough ground. While there was not a lot of elevation change as measured from starting point to ending point, there were a lot of up and down hills. If you would like to revisit the hike, a guy named Brian has a very nice video on YouTube that you can see here. We had our trail lunch and then departed to a nice little hike to Santa Elena Canyon. The mouth of the deepest and most spectacular Rio Grande Canyon in the national park may be reached by a short trail that crosses a seasonal creek, climbs over a ridge and drops down to a sandbank beside the river. It certainly was pretty spectacular as illustrated by the photo below
