Noted events in his life were:
1. Biography. He moved to Tennessee (then part of North Carolina), about 1794. In the formation of counties, this became Rutherford, Co. He settled in that part of the county called Jefferson. See The Short History of Rutherford Co. Thomas was listed in a deed dated 1797 and recorded in Davidson Co. - he being a citizen of Virginia. The land conveyed to him in this deed was on Stone's River adjoined the land of Isaac Shelby. Rucker must have moved into the region, between 1797 and 1801, from Wilson Co. He is said to have the first grist mill in the county. Tradition tells that the four Rucker brothers came from Amherst Co., in 1795 to Davidson Co., N.C. )now Tennessee). Each purchased 5,000 acres of land. These four brothers: James, Thomas, Gideon and Benjamin married four Reade (Reed) sisters in Virginia. They were all ministers - each of a different denomination.
