bullet  Noted events in his life were:

1. Marriage Contract, 22 Sep 1868, Murfreesboro, Rutherford, Tennessee, USA. They were married at the family home, Elmwood Farm, by Bishop C. T. Quintard, Bishop of Tennessee, who had been his chaplain during the Civil War. Bishop Quintard stayed frequently with the family, when he was in Murfreesboro. Bishop Q. helped build St Luke's Episcopal Church in Atlanta and was the first minister there. He was named for an uncle William, who came from to Middle, Tenn. with Granny Sime's grandfather, or named after his father's friend in Philadelphia. (Maybe they were the same?) He joined the Confederate service at age 19. He became a lieutenant in Nathan Bedford Forrest's Cavalry, 4th Confedarate Regiment. He later transferred to General Bragg's Division. He loved Atlanta, while he was there during the war, and moved his family there, in 1900. His partner in the grain storage business swindeled him out of his profits, before he left Tennessee. According to Mildred Sime Zimmermann, his six daughters loved him dearly and spoiled him - they brought is slippers and prepared his bath. When he came home, he always had an apple or something in his pocket for Lesa. He was Episcopal, because his wife was.

"It was on September 22, 1868, in the double parlor at Elmwood and there were six couples as attendants and they came down the stairs and stood in front of the front parlor window - with Bishop Quintod officiating - and they went to Mobile on their wedding trip. It was quite a place in hose days. I wonder why they went there and not New Orleans." Letter from Louise Leiper to Mary Mitchell 1o/15/77.
