While it has been suspected that son, John J. Swiss while being born in France, with the mother born in France, that the father was from Switzerland, close to the boarder with France. In the 1880 Census, John lists his mother as being born in France and his father born in Switzerland, thus adding strong evidence to this hypothesis.
