Martin Bertram Swiss

2. Medical: Crushed Pelvis, Bef 1930, Kearny, Hudson, New Jersey, USA. In 1930, Martin is 37 years old and living with his 75 year old mother and his 57 year old single sister. I can remember visiting him and his sister (Aunt Lizzy) with my grandfather Joshua Alexander Swiss when I was about 4 or 5 years old. He was known as Uncle Mart to me. He had a special leather covered bed that he would lay on in the living room. He could either stand with cruches, or lay down. The story I remember is that he was run over by a wagon (perhaps on the farm in Maryland?) and was told by the doctors that his crushed pevis could be set so that he could either stand, or sit. He elected to be frozen in a standing position.
