Walter J. Swiss - 6/14/2002

Walter J. Swiss, 72, of Cameron Court, a retired accountant, died June 14, 2002, in Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Joan C. (Little) Swiss and the late Dorothy (Marshall) Swiss.

Born in Kearny, N.J., a son of the late Walter and Margaret (Baird) Swiss, he had moved to Warwick in 1953.

Mr. Swiss was an accountant at Leesona Corp. for 28 years, retiring in 1991.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post 1, Providence.

Mr. Swiss was a graduate of Wharton School of Business, the University of Pennsylvania, Class of 1950, and Kearny High School, Class of 1946.

He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed woodworking.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, David M. Swiss of Higganum, Conn., and Mark S. Swiss of Warwick; a daughter, Susan C. Berlam of Pawcatuck, Conn.; two stepdaughters, Rebecca J. Paul and Heidi A. Bottomley, both of Warwick; a sister, Katherine Little of Wayne, N.J.; and eight grandchildren.

The funeral was held in Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave. A burial service with military honors was held in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.

Gifts in his memory to The American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
